Most men don't know about this.

WHAT IS MEN’S PELVIC HEALTH?

Men’s pelvic health refers to the male pelvis and all surrounding areas. It’s not just the prostate! Many men develop problems with their bladder, bowel, sexual organs and pelvic floor muscles. Some common reasons men may experience pelvic floor problems and benefit from pelvic physiotherapy are:

  • Prostate enlargement & prostate cancer

  • Pre and post-prostatectomy complications

  • Urinary incontinence, urge & frequency

  • Overactive bladder

  • Painful bladder syndrome/interstitial cystitis

  • Chronic constipation, hemorrhoids, bowel incontinence

  • Chronic Prostatitis

  • Post-vasectomy/Hernia repair

  • Postvoid dribbling

  • Erectile Dysfunction (ED)

  • Ejaculatory dysfunction

  • Chronic pelvic, testicular & penile pain

  • Chronic low back, hip and sacroiliac joint pain

WHAT TO EXPECT AT YOUR FIRST APPOINTMENT

During your first visit, your physiotherapist will discuss your history in detail to understand your problem. Based on this information, you and your physiotherapist will decide what's the best assessment technique(s) and create a personalized treatment plan to address your specific issues and guide your recovery. There may be an in-person physical exam or a virtual movement screening. Treatments may involve manual therapy, personalized exercises, self-management strategies, education, and more.

Your physiotherapist is specially trained and registered with the Ontario College of Physiotherapists to perform internal pelvic examinations.

Note: If you have extended health coverage for physiotherapy, pelvic physiotherapy sessions will be covered. No referral is needed to see a physiotherapist, but some insurance companies may require a physician’s referral for reimbursement.

If you have any pelvic health concerns that are preventing you from living your best life, schedule an appointment today!
